Should
I have been given the option of a blood test for drink driving?
After
you have given a positive breath test reading for drink
driving the Police are not obliged to ask you if
you want a blood test to check how much
alcohol is in you system. You can ask for a blood test to
be taken if you decide that the result of the mouth alcohol
test for drink driving does not seem right.
It
is often a good idea to get a blood test for drink
driving if you are on the verge of the .05 limit
and do not believe you should have been over the limit.
The breath alcohol test is one that relies on mouth alcohol
and may not reflect how much alcohol is actually in someone's
system.
The
main downside to getting a blood test for drink
driving and not relying on the reading of the positive
breath test reading is, obviously, if it comes back with
a higher reading.
In
this situation the best outcome relies on you making the
decision based on what you know you had to drink.
